Sesame or til (Sesamum indicum) is a grass from sesame family (Sesamum), which grows in wild tropical and Southern Africa, in all warm parts of Asia, and, nowadays, in America. The origin of sesame is unknown. Anyway, its cultivation began from most ancient times in the Old World. Already ancient Greek historian Herodotus named it sesame.
