Almond

Almond tree (Amigdalus), by the way, is the closest relative of peach, and belongs to family of rose flowers. Wild almond grows in Western and Central Asia. The Latin name of almond tree is Amigdalus – this name comes from ancient goddess of Phoenician. Its fruits, which are similar to a plum, inside of which were nuts, gave to this goddess not only wisdom, but also rare beauty. At one time unusually original sweet taste of almond was especially liked by royal families. No doubts this fruit under the right borrowing has the first place in nut hierarchy, due to its really royal taste.

Almond is sweet and bitter. Both sorts are widely used to get the most valuable almond oil. Oilcake of bitter almond, remaining after pressing of oil, is used for preparation of bitterly - almond waters used as soothing substance. As the auxiliary substance almond is used in case of increased content of cholesterol, hypertension, oncological diseases, overweight, ulcer of bowels and for eye illnesses.
